So, we all know the story of Little Red Riding Hood,
right? Well, Wolf tells it a different way. In this
opera, written by Wolf, the audience gets to hear the
story from her perspective. She is out to set the record
straight and has dragged Red and Grandma with her.
In
this production, we find out that Wolf has had the dream
of being a great opera diva. To reach her goal, she
has written an opera starring herself, Red and Grandma.
The three, along with their pianist, are traveling to
New York City to propose Wolf's opera to the maestro
at The Metropolitan Opera for their next season. They
get lost along the way and end up in a school auditorium,
surrounded by an audience of children who were waiting
for a "different" show to begin. Since they
are already there, one of the children suggests that
they perform Wolf's opera for the school instead, right
then and there. So they do!
The
children learn about some of the different aspects of
opera while they hear funny dialogue between the three
comical characters. They also get to hear some wonderful
singing, albeit through again a comical approach. Wolf,
Red and Grandma tell the "true" tale of their
relationships through a number of musical pieces Wolf
has composed and arranged for them.
The
True Story of Wolf and Red Riding Hood
is a wonderful show for children and adults of all ages!
